Constitutional bodies in India are administrative units, which have been created by the Constitution of India. Some of these constitutional bodies are Election Commission of India, Finance Commission and Union Public Service Commission. Indian Government Departments are administrative bodies, working for their respective ministries and consist of thousands of employees. They have been set up to look after the welfare of the Indian citizens. Some of these departments are Department of Defence, Department of Space and Narcotics Control Bureau. Indian Judiciary is an independent judiciary system, which consists of Supreme Court, High Courts and District courts, and is focussed on integrating the country. Council Of Ministers of India are mandated by the constitution to be members of either House of the Parliament of India. State Governments in India have been vested with the power to handle state related matters. They are headed by Chief Ministers. State Governments are responsible for internal security, for which they are dependent on the state police. Local Self Government in India is an instrument of democratic self-government serving the local community for overseeing local affairs. Regional administration in India is the administration by a local body, below the state level administration, but above the district level administration. This kind of administration is carried out by Regional Officers, of whom the Divisional Commissioner is most important. It can be divided into governance at revenue division/ sub-division level, tahsil level, pargana level and village level. It is the District Collector who acts as the most important representative of the state government at the district level. Distribution of power between the centre and states refers to the allocation of responsibilities between the centre and the state.
